By Political Science Students of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
Welcome to Politeia!
Politeia is a project engaging Political Science students to raise their voice about issues barely echoed in the media. We are a platform built on diversity and uniqueness. Each article is a different point of view and a specific contribution to a respectful political debate. Our team gathers young people of various backgrounds, distinct opinions, but all with incredible passion for contemporary politics. This is what makes our platform one-of-a-kind, and this is what makes Politeia - a place where every voice matters, and every opinion counts.

I am Agata and I am 21 years old. I come from Poland, where I was born and raised. Right now, I am living in Amsterdam where I am studying Political Science at Vrije Universiteit. In my third year, I moved to Santiago de Chile for one semester as a part of my exchange programme, and those were absolutely the best 6 months of my life!
I've always dreamed of a journalistic career when I was younger. I believed it would allow me to combine all the issues that make me happy - meeting new people, traveling, writing, and politics (as last but not least).
Privately, I am a huge fan of skiing, hiking, my brother, and Zerocalcare. My recommendations in Amsterdam? Just wherever my friends are currently at. They will make every place wonderful.
After graduation, I would love to go backpacking around South-East Asia. It is one of my biggest dreams. Later, I will decide what comes next. No plan is sometimes the best plan.

I’m Marius, 21 years old. I was born and raised in the Hague and moved to Amsterdam for my studies. In my daily life I like to play chess and the guitar and love to go to Jazz Cafe Alto. Within my BSc Political Science I've really liked to debate and discuss international relations. The MUN and AUC therefore were a great experience for me.
When I was little I was a big fan of classical culture, like the Romans, Greeks and wanted to become an expert on archeology like my grandma. However in highschool I quickly came to learn that learning Latin and Greek was not as fun as I imagined it to be. In highschool I was in a debate club which has really sparked my interest in Political Science. Right now I would love to serve my country at the ministry of Foreign affairs as a diplomat or the ministry of Defense as a strategic expert.

My name is Akshay Singh, I am 21 years old and I was born and raised in New Delhi, India. Currently in my final year of a BSc in Political Science at VU, I developed my passion for political science during my final high school years, with a particular focus on conflict studies and international relations. This interest has led me to pursue a minor in conflict resolution and post-conflict rebuilding at UvA.
Outside of my academia, I enjoy video games, sports, and making the most of the outdoors in Amsterdam. Political science for me is a way to express my views in writing, as I feel the written word in today's world lacks authenticity and genuineness. My end goal however is to contribute to policy making through external organizations.

I’m Nalani and I’m 19 years old. I was born in Heerlen but raised in Zaandam. In my daily life I like playing video games, drawing, and walking around nature with friends. So far in my bachelor’s in political science, I’ve enjoyed learning about voter and elite behavior.
I’ve always been interested in politics from a pretty young age. From age 10 I’ve done things like raising awareness for Syrian refugees, as well as joining protests like Kick Out Zwarte Piet, as well as participating in fundraising for WNF.
I’m not too sure on what I’ll do after graduation yet. I’m interested in journalism because it brings along the opportunity to be creative and write about many interesting topics. But since I was young, I’ve also been interested in joining human rights organizations. Only time will tell.

My name is Salomé and I am 20 years old. I was born and raised in France before moving to Amsterdam where I started studying a bachelor in Political Science here at the VU, currently in my second. In my free time when the sun is out I like to sit on a terrace and have coffee with friends or just read a good book.
I have always loved writing, however it is really only after writing an opinion piece for a french media outlet back in high school, that I discover that I wanted to later continue in Journalism. Journalism would offer me the possibility to do what I like, writing with what I have learned in recent years about politics and, hopefully, on some of my favorite topics — the European Union, Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
